Naggayi Barbara Rita is a Lecturer and Ag. Head of Department, Environment and Livelihood Support Systems under the Institute of Interdisciplinary Training and Research, Mbarara University of Science and Technology. Her varied career includes University teaching, training programme management and also engaged as a facilitator in the community facilitation skills for community development course. She is notably acknowledged for her contribution to the development of three undergraduate programmes and one graduate academic programme namely; Bachelor of Planning and Community Development, Bachelor of Gender and Women Health, Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Livelihoods and Farm Production, Master of Science in Livelihoods and Agricultural Innovations respectively.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Environmental Management, Post Graduate Diploma in Development Studies, and Master of Science in Natural Resource Management and is currently a PhD student with a research focus on the comparison between formal and informal mechanisms of accountability for outcomes in the community based management system of rural water facilities.
Apart from her involvement in academia, she also serves on the Executive Board of the Climate Change Action Network of Eco schools - Uganda as General Secretary and also an honorary member of Conservation Efforts for Community Development, a National NGO in Uganda.
